Beaches of the South Coast
The South coast is 170km in length and has over 100 sandy beaches on offer.
The beaches are especially suitable for families with children and for long walks. Some of our favourites include the lengthy beach of Alvor and Meia Praia between Portimão and Lagos. These can be reached from the Quinta by car in around 45 minutes.
Beaches on the West Coast.
The natural reserve of the West coast (Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina) can also be reached from the Quinta by car in around 45 minutes. It extends from Cabo de São Vicente, the most south westerly point of Europe, right up to Odeceixe in the North. Small inlets between rough cliffs offer ideal bathing spots. The waves, however can be quite large at times. Amoreira is the name of the wide sandy beach near Aliezur. With its lagoon, it is the perfect bathing spot for younger children.
The West coast is also a surfer’s paradise.
